Principles of Evaluating Braille Labelling on Medicinal Packaging by Polish Association of the BlindWarsaw, 31 Oct 2006 Because of the necessity of evaluating Braille labelling on medicinal packaging, we have adopted the following principles that so far have been referred to printed dots and from now on concern embossed Braille dots too: On the website of the Polish Association of the Blind www.pzn.org.pl one can find texts containing: Opinion of the Polish Association of the Blind on Braille labelling of medical products along with the way of representing in Braille signs, including: product’s name, dose, pharmaceutical form of a medicinal product along with the agreed braille font, Guidance concerning the Braille requirements for labelling and the package leaflet, article 56 A of Directive 2001/83/EC as amended Opinion of the Polish Association of the blind on accessibility of medicinal Information included in the package leaflet. The Main board of the PAB has set up an evaluating committee, members of which are: elżbieta Oleksiak, Dominika Buchalska, Dorota ciborowska, Anna laber, Iwona Budz. Each medicinal product can be evaluated two times by the committee; firstly, the preliminary phase evaluates dots’ combinations to be then printed in Braille and secondly the final product in the form of embossed braille dots is evaluated.
Each evaluation of a medicinal product along with the issued certificate costs 150 PLN (including VAT). The above principles are obligatory until the end of the 2010. |
